Terms of Use: NEON HOLD
Effective date: August 8, 2026
NEON HOLD is made by Jan Rohweder, trading as Marketing Bear. By playing, you agree to these terms. They are short on purpose.

1. The game
You get a personal, non transferable licence to play NEON HOLD on devices you own. The game, its code, art, sound, writing and characters, including GLITCH and NOVA, belong to us. Do not copy, sell, reverse engineer or reskin them.
The game is provided as is, for entertainment. We do our best, but we do not promise it will be available without interruption, and we are not liable for lost scores, lost streaks or lost time. Your statutory rights as a consumer are untouched by that sentence.
2. Revives
A revive lets you continue a run instead of losing it. There are two kinds.
Free revives. One per 24 hours. It does not stack: if you have not used it when the window rolls over, it is replaced by the new one rather than added to it. This is deliberate. It is a daily gift, not a savings account.
Banked revives. These persist until you spend them. You get them from:
- your first launch, as a welcome, so a new player can revive straight away
- daily play streaks, at days 3 and 5 (1 revive), 7 and 10 (2), 14 and 21 (3), 30 (5), and every tenth day after that (3). A streak needs consecutive calendar days, and one missed day resets it to 1
- invites, under the rules in section 4
- buying them
A run can use at most 3 revives, no matter how many you hold. Nobody buys their way to the top of the grid inside a single run.
3. Purchases
Revive packs are consumable in app purchases. Buying one adds revives to your banked balance immediately.
- Consumed means gone. Once you spend a revive it is used up. It does not come back, and it is not restorable on a new device, which is what "consumable" means in the App Store. Reinstalling the app does not return spent revives.
- All sales are final as far as we are concerned. Apple processes every payment and holds the refund power. If you want a refund, ask Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue one, and we never see your payment details.
- Prices and packs can change. We may add, remove or reprice packs. Revives you have already bought are unaffected.
- Revives have no cash value, cannot be transferred between players or accounts, and cannot be exchanged for anything outside the game.
4. Invites and their rewards
Every player on the grid gets an invite code and link. When somebody uses it:
- They get 5 revives on redeeming.
- You get 5 revives once they have actually finished their first run, not the moment they redeem. The reward is for bringing a player, not for a click.
The rules, all enforced by the server:
- New users only. A code only pays out for an install that is genuinely new, judged by when the app first ran on that device against when the code was created. An existing player can still redeem a code to become friends with the sender, but no revives are paid to either side. Reinstalling the game does not make you new again.
- You cannot redeem your own code.
- One invite per player, for life. An invite is a welcome for arriving, so once you have redeemed a code you cannot redeem another, from anybody. You can still add each other from the Friends tab, which needs no code at all.
- 10 rewarded invites per player per week, across every code you hold, and they reset every week. Rotating your code does not mint a fresh allowance and does not reset the count.
- 100 redemptions per code, after which it is exhausted.
- Invites are a code and the iOS share sheet. We never see an address, we send no email, and there is nothing to unsubscribe from. See the privacy policy.
Invite rewards are a thank you, not a business. Creating fake installs to farm them is covered by the next section.
5. Fair play
Do not cheat. Concretely: no modified clients, no tampering with saved data, no automation, scripts, macros or hardware that holds the screen for you, no forged submissions, no farming invite rewards with devices or accounts that are not real players.
We may remove any score we believe is not genuine, and we may remove a player from the grid for repeat abuse. We will usually just delete the score.
Pick a display name that others can see without wincing. The server strips markup and unusual characters from names automatically, and we may reset a name that is abusive, impersonating, or obviously somebody's real world identity.
6. Simulated season players
At launch, the leaderboard is populated with simulated players. Their names, flags and scores are generated by us. They are not real people, and we would rather say so here than have you wonder.
They exist because an empty leaderboard is a miserable place to start, and they are built to get out of the way:
- Every real player who joins retires four simulated ones, strongest first, so the summit becomes human territory quickly. At 20 real players, the last one is gone.
- As soon as a single real player exists, no simulated player is allowed to sit above 90% of the best real score. You will never grind against an unbeatable bot.
Simulated players do not win anything, cannot be added as friends, and have no effect on your revives or purchases. Everything else on the grid is a real person's real run.
7. Your data
What we collect, and how to delete it, is in the privacy policy. The global grid is opt in, and the game is fully playable without it.
8. The rest
- Apple is not a party to these terms. Apple has no obligation to provide support for the game. Apple and its subsidiaries are third party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
- We may change these terms. If we do, we will update the effective date above and ship the new text in the app. Continuing to play means accepting them.
- We may end the service. If we ever shut down the grid, we will say so in advance in the app where we can. The game itself will keep working offline.
- These terms are governed by the law of the country in which Marketing Bear is established, and nothing here removes the mandatory consumer protections of the country you live in.
